Sony CDX-GT300 Install in 306

Hi,

Recently bought a 1998 306, have taken out the clarion tape unit that
was in there as per instructions found in this group… thanks!

Installed the sony headunit it along with an autoleads adapter to use
the peugeots stalk control. Works fine but will not keep time/radio
presets when the car is turned off. When it was in this setting it
ocasionally has gone mental switching between ATT on/off which is
highly annoying. I have tried wiring the power in both suggested ways
as well as moving fuse number one down a space (three slots… was in
the top two now in the bottom two). This allows the unit to retain time
and radio settings… but doesn’t allow the unit to be turned off by
the cars key when everything is turned off and the key removed.

Obviously would like the best of both worlds i.e. settings are saved
and unit is turned off by the key.

Any ideas?

406 ML5T Speedometer drive replacement

Hi,

The Speedo on my 406 has packed up. After some fault finding, I found
that the drive gear located in the gearbox has snapped – so it jams on
the pinion on the bottom of the speedo sensor / slips on the shaft its
located on.

Is this a possible fix at home job or does anyone know what its going
to entail having a dealer fix it?

The haynes manual gives the procedure for the other 406 gearboxes, but
not the ML5T.

1997 405 LX Diesel

Hello people,
its been a while since my last visit,
any suggestions why the electric cooling fans on my 405
won’t switch off, , , , I had to pull the fuse,
it all started when the coolant light came on, the coolant level was
correct, (with a cold engine),
started the engine, coolant light went out after 5 mins,switched off the
engine before it was warm, cooling fans came on and stayed on ,,
any help appreciated

307 steering judder

Help, i have a 2.0 dturbo hdi and i am getting steering judder at about 70mph
onwards, i had new tyres which have been balanced the garage has checked it
out and still the judder is present and is now driving me up the wall is this
a common fault with the 307.

Diesel Injector Question

Hi all,
I have a quick injector question:
I have pulled the injectors from my 1.4 XND and looking at them they
seem very worn. there is a pip in the middle, I think it should lok
like an inverted cone, but is parrallel sided.

ie: \ /

is good, but it looks like:

Can anyone confirm this?

607 ventelation fan not working

Hi, I have a 607 where the interia ventelation fan has stopped working. It
hasn’t worked for a few months, but strangely today the fan blew air at me
for ten seconds or so, but then went off again. I hought it may have been a
fuse untill this happened today. Does any body have any idea?

406 Tyre wear

Running 406 -2 litre Hdi 90 Rapier Estate- registered 2001, with 62,000
miles and no problems, in fact very happy. May even be very,very happy but
somehow feel that Michelin Energy tyres (all round) have been a
disappointment . After 21,000 miles the front tyres are overdue for renewal.
Does anyone have a better i.e. quieter and longer lasting tyre for 406 front
wheels? Truly, not a rough driver. Honest!

307 auto tranmission – hard gear changes

Recently I took my 307 2.0lt in for 90K service and was told by the PUG

mechanic that the transmission required 1 litre of transmission fluid.
He said it happens every now and then. It seems to have softened the
gear changes but recently started doing it again. Can anyone tell me
where I check the tranny fluid level? Does it have a dipstick or level

viewer window?
Also, if anyone has any comments/suggestions or general info about this

problem, I would like to know more.
