Does anybody know how to re-attach a radiator bottom hose with the ‘bayonet’
type fitting on my 306 2.0 XSi? I managed to prise the clips off when
removing the old radiator but am having great difficulty ra-attaching the
clip to the new radiator. I cannot get a good grip on the hose as it is
right next to the alternator and there doesn’t seem to be any other way of
getting to it – or maybe there is??
any help gratefully received
Andrew

When you have a tight one (!) You can get a better grip by roming the o/s
underwing trim, and the washer bottle, and get on the hose that way. Give
the seal and the rad a good dose of WD40. Make sure the rotating part is
fully anti clockwise holding the two clips apart, and be careful. The clips
will break, and that’s a new bottom hose. Not cheap.

Thanks for the tip. I ended up dousing the whole lot with Fairy liquid and
eventually, with a bit of brute force, the male end complete with o-ring
went in.

Actually, it’s not that expensive (bitter experience), but it *is* a pain to
fit!
Don’t break the clips!
