Peugeot 306 Radio problems

About two months ago the buttons on my radio face stopped working. The
radio was on and working fine in that sense but none of the buttons
would work so I couldn’t change the channel, volume, turn it off etc.
I could change volume and frequency with the control stick by the
steering wheel but that was it.

Last week, my battery went dead and I had to get my car jumpstarted.
Since then, the radio has been permanently off. As none of the buttons
work I can’t turn it on so i’m stuck with no use of my radio. Not sure
why, loose connection or something?

If anyone has any ideas let me know. It’s not asking for a code so
it’s not a security issue i don’t think. Just don’t want to get conned
by a dealer who charges me for a brand new radio.

wet floors/water in car

Ciao

(Maybe this is already solved aber doppel haelt besser).
I have been reading some posts from guys speaking of really wet floors
(when it rains). I owe a 306 1.9 D and had the same problem but a
smart (italian   ) guy solved it!

No window seal broken, no air conditionin leak, no condense water.
The front steel (?) panel of the 306 (open the  bonnet and you will
see it at the height of the passenger seat) has a hole to let pipes
and conducts go through (I assume its basically aircon pipes). That
hole is selaed with a gum sealing that eventually gets old and doesnt
fit properly after some time. When you are driving (and steering left)
your right tyre will "spit" water exactly in direction of that hole.
Thats where the water comes in.

Seal it and your problems are gone. Hope it helps.

306 XSI Immobiliser help needed please…..

Garage had the battery off to fix the gearbox. They told me I had to
re-set my immobiliser as they couldn’t get the car started. While
paying the bill, they amazingly got the car started by typing in the
code. Took the car home, and now the car won’t start, the immobiliser
red light is continuously on, along with a continuous tone of the
immobiliser. I’ve tried the procedures stated in the manual to no
avail. The immobiliser won’t let me key in any code, there is no
response (beep) when I press any button on the keypad.

Also, not sure if this has anything to do with it, but the oil pressure
gauge was going haywire on the way home, moving from minimum to maximum
pressure.

If anyone can help, I’d be really really grateful :)

scoff :)
p.s. The remote on my key is knackered so any procedures I have to do
without using my remote!

peugeot 406 sri turbo turbo not working

Please can some one help me?

I was driving my car (406 Sri Turbo petrol) and while accelerating the
car back fired and now I have very limited turbo (the boost is there
but not as good). I have checked all of the hoses and I can’t find any
that are cracked or not connected. you can still hear the turbo spin
and the dump valve release a little whoosh but there is no power.
I was wondering whether it would be the waste gate servo or something
along those lines

1996 406 plip programming / immobilser problem

Hi,

I’ll start from the beginning. I’m getting desperate, any ideas would be
very much appreciated.

A couple of months ago I bought a 1996 406LX with coded anti-start. The code
for the anti-start was forgotten by the previous owner (a friend, I believe
him). We knocked a bit off the price knowing that when the key battery ran
out I would be stuffed for starting the car.

A few weeks ago the key button unlocked the doors but the immobiliser
remained on. I was towed to Peugeot who sent the ECU somewhere to be
reprogrammed. The car came back with a new code which works fine although
they had not set the plip to automatically turn off the immobiliser.

I followed the instructions which i have on a leaflet from peugeot (came
with the car). It has not worked for me – and I’ve tried a hundred times.
Those intructions were:

Ignition on
Enter code
Press CC
Press Key button
Press secondary key button ( I only have primary key, other instructions i
found online said to press the primary again)
Press CC
Press C1C

The steps are confirmed by bleeps as the leaflet describes.

I also read something vague about turning the ignition on and holding the
button for 15 seconds. This appears to do nothing.

I’m wondering if the plip is broken. This would seem most likely to me. The
battery was tested when the AA came to take me away and it was fine, I don’t
know if it could randomly just lose its coding… I don’t know enough about
it but could the fact that the ECU has been reprogrammed (or whatever they
did to it) mean my plip thing won’t work with it anymore? I’m getting so
sick of putting the code in, and I always forget. So so frustrating.

So, if anyone can help me I’ll be extremely grateful!

Thanks for taking the time to read all that.

Ben.

407 Fuel Consumption

I got my shiny new 407 HDi 136 last Tuesday and very nice it is too! I was a
bit surprised to find though that the trip computer was recording a fuel
consunption of 34mpg.  This is a lot worse than I was led to expect from the
published figures.  In fact it is about the same as my 2.4 litre normally
aspirated indirect injection diesel powered motor caravan!

Having now learned to use the 6 speed gearbox a bit better it is now up to
36mpg, still a lot lower than the 49mpg combined cycle figure despite doing
most of my driving on motorways and trunk roads.

Can anybody suggest a reason for this?  Possible ones I could guess at are:

The car is new, and will improve when it has dome a few more than its current
250 miles (although I was told that the engine had been "bench run" to avoid
the need for running in).

or

The trip computer is inaccurate.  It would be better to wait until I have
used a tank of fuel, than perform my own calcultaion based on anount of fuel
to fill the tank and miles covered.

What MPG do others get with this car?

306 accelerator pedal has gone stiff

I have a 98 306 Turbo Diesel and the accelerator pedal has gone really
stiff.
Plus I can hear and feel that the pedal is possibly rubbing against
something.

Any ideas of what is wrong with the pedal/cable?

Thanks in advance

Hardy
