Can anyone recommend a good place to buy a replacement 306 three door
driver’s side window motor/mech? Mine is making a clicking sound and the
window doesn’t go down so I assume the gears have sheared. Is there any
posibility it’d be repairable or is replacement the only option?
Thanks,
Fergus

[OT] Racing 205 Diesel
Hello there,
I was out on the Web, and looked at the Gumball3000 site
(www.gumball3000.com), so far the most amazing race I’ve ever seen. I
dropped them a line asking if it was possible to run with a 205 Diesel, and
here’s what they said :
"We would consider taking a 205 Diesel on the rally, please complete the
application form online at www.gumball3000.com, and someone from the HQ will
be in contact with you."
But, what could do a 205D racing a Ferrari 360, a Porsche 996, or even a
C-Class Merc ? Nothing
Eh eh, it could be fun, even if I’d probably take a DTurbo for that use… A
guy here (I won’t quote his name, but sure he knows who he is) talked of
using a DTurbo for racing… Wanna give a try ?

1996 406 hard starting
Iam a UK based autotech and I have a customer with a 96 406(petrol)
which on occassions is very hard to start from cold. He has had it into
main dealers for diagnostic test and they say there is nothing wrong.
Anyone else had similar problems? Thanks Clive

Light steering and speedo failed & shock absorbers
Hi, hope someone can shed some light on this, I’m going to take the car into
a dealer tomorrow to take a look but thought someone might know what the
problem is.
I drive a 406 V6, R reg – coming home from work tonight, I’d driven about
half a mile, stopped at a set of lights, then pulled off, I can’t remember
if it happened straight away, but driving around the roundabout the steering
became very light. I was able to control the car, but just wasn’t a normal
steering feeling. Also I noticed that the speedo had failed and was stuck at
0. I drove a further 100 yards or so and the steering returned, the speedo
flicked a few times and came back to life. I’m assuming that since the
weight of the steering is governed by speed, the fact that it thought I was
doing 0 mph caused it to switch to light steering. Does anybody have an idea
what might have caused this, might it indicate a failing part, or an
electronic/sensor type issue. Where is the speed sensor located, I had all
shock absorbers replaced recently could something have come loose?
On the matter of shock absorbers, based on some reading in this group I
think what I actually had changed were the suspension dampers. I decided to
get this done because the ride had become very hard, teeth jangling bumps
sometimes when hitting potholes or lumps in the road. After the change I
have noticed this is not so severe, but now I feel almost every bump on the
road, is this to be expected, I would have thought these should get absorbed
better. I’ve had the car from about 21k miles (now 98k) and seem to remember
the ride being a whole lot better than this originally. I also notice that
it moves around more on the road, particularly the motorway, and sometimes
gets ‘stuck’ on white lines and lorry grooves, pulling the car away from the
direction I want to go in. Is there something else that I should get looked
at to improve ride quality, should I be concerned about the workmanship. Are
the pulling problems possibly due to the tyres having been changed around
and the tracking is now out, or whatever its called?
Thanks for reading

406 cd changer
I have a 1998 Peugeot 406 GLX which has the higher spec radio to support a
cd changer. The vehicle is not fitted with the changer. Is the CD cable
likely to be fitted & if so where do I find it.
Thanks..Geoff
306 Clutch
I’m wondering if I have a problem with the clutch on my 306 1.6i on a P
plate. Since I’ve had the car (1 year) the clutch has been very heavy to
push down. I have changed the clutch, cable and release arm bushes in the
bell housing. the pedal is free. Are all 306′s heavy, or have I missed
something. Any info appreciated. Thanks
Peugeot 806 electrics help
I have a P reg 806 SRDT 102,000 miles. Rev counter drops to zero after 10 or so miles, sometimes jumps up again. Any ideas. Also clock inside has not worked for a year now. looks a bit hard to get at, again any ideas. Electrics seem to be a bit of a pain and I also think the battery is about to die……….. Do not mention the stupid key pad which is falling of – again… I have lots of 806 tails and service gripes.
Trouble priming 1.9TD injection pump
I have just reassembled my 306 after fitting a new head gasket and having
the head skimmed but cannot get the Bosch injection pump to sucessfully
prime. I have had 2 or 3 fires out of the engine but when I crack the unions
off at the injectors only a very small amount of fuel comes out when turning
the engine over and a lot of it seems to be air (flattened 2 batteries so
far). The fuel filter is completely full and I have bled the pump on the
inlet and return pipe unions. I cannot however find a bleed screw on the
injection pump as mentioned (but not shown) in the Haynes book of lies, the
bosch pump on my Land Rover Defender has one on the top middle of the pump
and priming it has always been easy. Is the Haynes manual refering to the
Lucas pump or is there a vital bleed screw somewhere on the Bosch I am
missing? The fuel shut off solenoid has power and seems to click when
ignition goes to position 2. Any other tips on how I might sort this out?
Many thanks,
Fergus
