Thud from rear of 306

For a while, I’ve had a thud when I go over a bump or hit a pothole. Bad
over cattle grids too. The noise seems to come from the rear passenger side
(right hand drive). I took the car to my garage, who first took out the
spare wheel, then moved the exhaust about, then changed the shock absorber.
This didn’t do anything for the noise. It’s been there for over a year,
gradually getting worse. The garage checked the bushes on the axle and said
they look ok.
Can anyone shed any light on what this may be, rather than me taking to a
garage for them to change everything, one by one,

Thanks for any replies
Neil

Hi there, i have just bought a second hand sony cdx-c5850r cd player

reasons, how do i remove the front panel, to avoid it being nicked??

Second i have a 1996 (P Reg) peugeot 306, with a steering column stick
to control sound and radio stations.  Will i need any special leads
etc to connect it all up so it still works?

A speedy response would be appreciated.

Regards

Ian

I came, I saw, I came again.

306 electric window problem

On a 1997 306 I am unable to operate either the drivers or passengers
electric windows from the drivers door switches although the passengers
switch operates the passengers window ok. How can I test if it is a faulty
switch unit or possibly a broken wire which has been suggested by my  local
garage. They say the break will probably be where the loom goes from the
main body of the car to the door.

I see it is possible to disconnect the loom where it enters the door but
does anyone know where I can pick up the other end of the loom behind the
dash board to test for a broken circuit.  Is there a connector after the
loom comes through the main door pillar and if so how do I get at it.

I have tried to get a wiring diagram for the circuit but without success.

Can anyone help

405 tdi trouble

Hi ALL

last year i post her about a problem i had with a 405 TDI i had recently
bought.  It was losong water and it looked like a head problem, it was
suggested to try the radiator cap, so i picked one up from the scrappie and
all seemed to be well.  Feeling triumphant i thought we’tt treat it to a new
thermostat and radiator cap from PEUGEOT.
All was well, then my mother who’s car it was said that the red light (low
water) had come on and the heater didn’t work, confusion set in again, well
i refilled the system and bled it.  then run it up and it started to pass at
the radiator cap. EEk i thought head must be gone as it was a new cap.
Well i had the new cap retested and it was completely shot! wouldn’t even
hold pressure above 0.5 bar, put other cap on and tried it.  All seemed
great until that passed and the water shot out, so the head i can only
assume is now screwed.
My question is this:  What responsibility if any could be found to fall on
Peugeot? there EO radiator cap failed which i believe  resulted in the head
to fail!
Should i hold peugeot responsible or just scrp the car

Warranty Provides Breakdown by AA, Lack of Communication.

Got into my 307 XSi this evening started it up, car was *really* rough
entire car was shaking the teeth out of my head, next moment the engine auto
diagnostic light was flashing and the Multifunction Display was going crazy.

First "Catalytic Converter Faulty"
Second "Antipollution Fault"

Diagnostic light now solidly illuminated. Stopped engine and S**t myself.

Having recovered and changed my pants! I then had a really important journey
to make, just after my local peugeot dealer closed. Called the AA/Peugeot
breakdown. Great service, and I was initially impressed. The AA chappie (I
was a member before I bought the car) came out and had a look, I didn’t
really want to drive the car unless I had some sort of assurance in that
what I was doing wasn’t going to cause any further damage.

So BSI has now put itself into "limp home mode" a kind of Safe Mode for
itself. OK Fine.

This is my point though, the AA provide assistance to Peugeot owners,
however when the guy looked at the car, he revved the nuts off it and then
said, its seems fine, however I cannot tell exactly what has happened you’ll
need to go to the main dealer for that.

POINTLESS why doesn’t peugeot equip these guys with the correct equipment
for the roadside, all they basically can do is tow you to your main dealer
or change a bulb. I could see the guys frustration with it, and its not the
AA or his fault.

I’m not knocking the service but it is stupid to get these guys to the job
when they haven’t got the custom tools to help us out. OK it may be too
difficult to equip all patrols for all makes of car, a suggestion may be
would in future provide a "service" key to the patrol in which they put it
in the ignition and the BSI forwards a code that responds to a look up chart
that the patrol has, this way if it is just a fuse blown or a duff sensor
maybe we could be on our way. Basically its software self diagnosis, it
already does this to the dealers unit, why not to the Multifunction display?

Full marks to the AA though, poor show to Peugeot.

The Shunt..

General Question

Do you really think the 307 XS is a good car?
I have one but i am not sure anymore if it is or not due to many strange and
weird sounds coming out of the engine and from the interior of the car!
I need your opinion…..
