Mystery Dashboard Object on 405 STDT

On my STDT, just between the plastic "wood" trim above the
glovebox and the fresh air vents in the centre of the
dashboard, there’s a small, approx. 1.5" square grille, behind
which (centre vents currently removed) sits a small,
cylindrical, electrical device.

The car’s temperature slider on the heater control panel is
marked with temperatures, is this what’s called "climate
control"?  Could the device described above be a temperature
sensor?

Thanks for any pointers.

Pinking 405

My wife has a 405, 1992 vintage with the 1.8i engine and cat. Mileage
currently 117,000.

The problem is that it pinks all of the time under about 2,500 to 3,000
revs. The engine has the Bosch multi point fuel injection which controls
ignition timing as well as injection. I have a Gunson Fault Tester which
comes back with no fault when tested. What is causing the pinking and how
can we stop it? (car has recently passed it MOT, emissions withing allowable
limits).

[QUESTION] : PB support moteur 206 xs 1.6 entraînant PB de pôt ?

Wheel Shake

Hi,
A recent problem has arisen with my 1990 205. After replacing the track rod
ends, the tracking was set by my local tyre fit centre (Ebley Tyres). Now,
at around 75 mph, the steering wheel shakes in my hands. Approaching 90 mph,
the whole car is shaking. The car has had new brakes about a year ago,
including the discs, so I can rule this out. The tyres are newish, but do
not seem to have thrown a balance weight. Is incorrect tracking causing
this – should I take it back to Ebley and complain, or is there another
problem?
Cheers

ICE

whats the best 6×9", Sub and amp (powering both the 6×9" and sub), both for
VFM and quality?

thinking bout the 600W+ area, already got the head unit&changer and am
looking at names like Alpine, Kenwood, Sony, Pioneer and Vibe…..maybe
Rockford Fosgate too.

already got 2×12" cutouts incar, so definatly subs to fit and also 2x 6×9"
cutouts on the parcel shelf.

would it be best getting (for example) 1x600W amp for 2x300W bass units, and
1x250amp for the 6×9"?
or is it a sensible idea using 1 amp for each bass?-3amps in total

i`m not bothered in the slightest about wiring it up-can easily do it, i
just want to know the best setup&what gear to get.

306 Gti6 supension bushes

It looks like the next weakest link in my suspension is the front
wishbone bushes. After
fitting the bilstein suspension kit, the rear bushes on the front
wishbones have started to
break up. I went into the main dealer to be informed that although they
show the rear bush
as a separate item they can only supply it with the front wishbone,
price? £60 each!
Apparently Citroen main dealers sell parts that Peugeot don’t and I
think my car shares the
same front suspension as the Xsara, anybody know for sure?
Also just looked in the Peugeot sport Special Tuning Catalogue, I have
come across this
before from my Rallying days, where the Motorsport dept sell items you
can’t get from the
dealer, and sometimes cheaper!
Anyway Special Tuning ARE quoting these rear bushes in group N for £30
each. Anybody
tried these? and do they fit the standard wishbone, not been able to
ring them yet.
I will keep you informed, as this could be a cheap way out with an
upgrade, just how I like
it.

I like my 405…………..

………in a kind of : its only worth a couple of hundred cost me nothing
in depreciation, looks better with bashes and scrapes, park it anywhere and it
will still be there when you come back, its got a huge boot which will take
huge amounts of garden rubbish and rubble to the tip, doesn’t have a silly
sun roof or electric windows or locks.,doesn’t rust,…of
way……………………………………….what about you ?…..or do
you cruise ,worry about small dents, agonize about minor faults, etc….accept
french cars for what they are ……..junk full of bad
engineering…………to be abused..not loved….it IS impossible to love a
peugeot………….thanks for listening………..happy 405 owner……..
